Three Burlington FCCLA students—Weston, Jordan, and Kyler—presented at last week's School Board meeting with advisor, Patricia Casey. They shared highlights of networking, receiving project improvement tips, and the sightseeing that their trip to FCCLA Nationals in Seattle enabled. HS Students have one period per day for Leadership/Intervention. One topic offered this week was floral arrangements with Ms. Winters. Students who opted into this leadership class learned about careers involving flowers and about the expenses & income of a self-employed flower farmer who also designs and sells bouquets. They learned tips about designing bouquets and then created their own.

Day 2 in the Ag shop focused on team work, communication, and growth mindset. Students were tasked with working collaboratively to build the tallest tower using nothing but three pieces of printer paper and a rationed amount of tape. Our winning team from the day reached a whopping 114 inches and had to be moved to the shop for final measurements!

Teachers are learning & growing with Mr. George over lunch today. He shared 200 years of Burlington history compacted into only an hour. I think we all could have listened for another hour. His knowledge & insight were really interesting.

Our track has been resurfaced this summer and we were able to add another runway and jump pit. It looks sharp. Come check it out and please help upkeep our track surface by keeping pets and wheels off the track. Bikes, skateboards, and rollerblades degrade the surface quickly.
