Burlington FFA has been named a Gold Emblem Chapter for the 2nd year in-a-row! This is scored on a rubric with a long application process that our officer team worked diligently to complete. Congrats!

The Burlington Schools National Honor Society enjoyed sharing a Thanksgiving meal with our local senior citizens so much that we decided to squeeze in a meal this spring as well! If you're available, Thursday, March 26th, please join members of NHS in the school cafeteria for a meal, some chatting, and activities starting at 12:30!

We're halfway to our goal with 4 more days to go! Which class will win? Who will get "pied"? Share the link on FB and comment "READ" for an extra entry to win a free book!

BMS had such a fun time reading this year for Challenge of the Books! We finished in 4th place and Coach Stephanie Winters said: "It was a tough competition this year for sure! We prepared by reading several, if not all, the 12 books that were given and studied together twice a week for a little over a month. We will miss our 8th graders from this year and I enjoyed having them these last two years. I feel each year we get stronger and more disciplined in remembering the book names and authors. I'm eager to try new tactics to ensure that we do our best with remembering the information from the books in the years to come! And same as last year and years to come, we dedicate our team to our beloved librarian, Dory Cauffman ❤️."

Our online Book Fair is March 9-22, and 25% of purchases comes directly to our library. It's easy as pie! Share the link on FB and comment "READ" for an extra entry to win!

Last weekend, our Speech & Debate team competed at the District Tournament for the opportunity to qualify for the National Tournament. The event was highly competitive, with more than 360 total entries and up to 60 competitors in each individual event.
While our team did not advance to finals in most events, our students represented our school with professionalism, preparation, and growth. Several competitors earned strong district rankings:
Kitzen Schatz placed 16th in the district in Drama.
Kitzen and Reece Allen placed 20th in the district for Duo Interpretation, with Jack Olson and Layla Baer close behind at 22nd.
In Informative Speaking — the second largest event at the tournament — Reece placed 14th overall, and Raygen Andrew followed with a 19th place finish.
Layla placed 17th in the district for Original Oratory.
We are especially proud to share that Kitzen qualified for the National Tournament in Congressional Debate, the single largest and one of the most competitive events at the district level. In addition to qualifying, sheplaced 2nd overall across the entire district — an exceptional accomplishment. Congrats, Kitzen!
