Our school chapter of the National Honor Society was excited to host a spring luncheon for local senior citizens! After sharing a meal together, many attendees stuck around for a few rounds of BINGO and a final round of blackout! NHS members look forward to hosting a couple more lunches next year and getting to know more of local senior citizens. If you'd like to receive a personal invite next school year (or know someone who would), please reach out to Melissa Harrington at mharrington@bighorn.com so she can collect names and contact information.

BMS 8th graders enjoyed learning the 7 steps of being a responsible outdoorsman at the annual Leave No Trace seminar. Activities included dissecting owl pellets, making protein ball treats, watching Big Horn REA light things up, and many more educational, engaging activities. It was a fun day!

Mr. Aagard's 5th Grade Science class took on the 2026 boat float challenge. Students were tasked with researching, planning, and building a boat that would go 10 feet. It was fun, project-based learning that students really enjoyed. There were many creative and fun designs.

BHS students proudly continued their long-standing tradition of participating in the American Dream Writing Contest, an opportunity we have embraced for many years. As part of the contest, students reflect on the Ten Cowboy Ethics, thoughtfully exploring what these values—such as honesty, courage, and hard work—mean in their own lives and communities. This year, freshman Kysen Bullinger earned top honors for Burlington with his outstanding submission, demonstrating both strong writing skills and a deep understanding of these timeless principles. Kysen will now advance to the state-level competition in Casper, representing Burlington with pride and continuing the school’s legacy of excellence in this meaningful event. CONGRATULATIONS, Kysen!

Burlington FFA has been named a Gold Emblem Chapter for the 2nd year in-a-row! This is scored on a rubric with a long application process that our officer team worked diligently to complete. Congrats!

The Burlington Schools National Honor Society enjoyed sharing a Thanksgiving meal with our local senior citizens so much that we decided to squeeze in a meal this spring as well! If you're available, Thursday, March 26th, please join members of NHS in the school cafeteria for a meal, some chatting, and activities starting at 12:30!

BMS had such a fun time reading this year for Challenge of the Books! We finished in 4th place and Coach Stephanie Winters said: "It was a tough competition this year for sure! We prepared by reading several, if not all, the 12 books that were given and studied together twice a week for a little over a month. We will miss our 8th graders from this year and I enjoyed having them these last two years. I feel each year we get stronger and more disciplined in remembering the book names and authors. I'm eager to try new tactics to ensure that we do our best with remembering the information from the books in the years to come! And same as last year and years to come, we dedicate our team to our beloved librarian, Dory Cauffman ❤️."

Our online Book Fair is March 9-22, and 25% of purchases comes directly to our library. It's easy as pie! Share the link on FB and comment "READ" for an extra entry to win!
