HS Students have one period per day for Leadership/Intervention. One topic offered this week was floral arrangements with Ms. Winters. Students who opted into this leadership class learned about careers involving flowers and about the expenses & income of a self-employed flower farmer who also designs and sells bouquets. They learned tips about designing bouquets and then created their own.

Day 2 in the Ag shop focused on team work, communication, and growth mindset. Students were tasked with working collaboratively to build the tallest tower using nothing but three pieces of printer paper and a rationed amount of tape. Our winning team from the day reached a whopping 114 inches and had to be moved to the shop for final measurements!

We're glad to have students back! The excitement of school starting has been palpable although I hear it's mixed with a tinge of sadness for summer days and sleeping in. It's going to be a great school year!

Teachers are learning & growing with Mr. George over lunch today. He shared 200 years of Burlington history compacted into only an hour. I think we all could have listened for another hour. His knowledge & insight were really interesting.

Big Horn #1 honored our District Teacher of the Year-Mr. Kirk Hopkin and our District Staff Member of the Year-Mrs. Dory Cauffman (posthumously). Both of these individuals had a tremendous impact on students over many decades of service.
