Among the nine states that test 100% of their high school juniors, Wyoming ranks #1 in ACT performance, including reading, math, and science. Not only is WY #1, but BHS is #1 in WY... again! For the 4th year in-a-row, and the 9th time in the last 13 years, BHS' ACT scores ranked FIRST in the state. (We have been in the top 3 every year.) And our Class of 2026 did not just beat all the high schools in the state, we earned the HIGHEST ACT COMPOSITE SCORE... EVER! The BHS Class of 2018 held the composite score record for Wyoming with a 24.6, followed closely by the BHS Class of 2020's score of 24.2; our Class of 2026's score was a whopping 26.1! What teachers are doing makes a huge difference in the lives of our students, the skills they are learning for future employment, where they can go to college, and how they can pay for it.
Why this matters:
In Wyoming, every student takes the ACT, not just those planning to attend college. Testing all students makes Wyoming’s top ranking even more meaningful, showing that our schools support all learners as opposed to only the top performers. Students are graduating with a solid foundation in core subjects, and Wyoming’s commitment to equity and access is making a real impact. By excelling across the board, Wyoming proves it’s preparing students for both college and career success, no matter where they come from or where they’re headed.
#1 in Wyoming- Burlington High School, 26.1
