We are excited to honor Patricia Casey, secondary FCS and Art teacher at BHS, as the 2024-25 District Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Casey doesn’t just teach content; she teaches excellence. She leads by example, modeling hard work, high standards, and a positive attitude that inspires students to rise to their potential. One of her most exciting recent contributions is the launch of a Catering course for students who have earned their Serve Safe certification; it’s a program that not only develops technical skills, but also builds confidence and career readiness. While her accomplishments are impressive, it’s her students who best capture the heart of her work. Here are just a few of their comments:
“Ms. Casey stays after to help me in Boost every day. She doesn’t have to, but she does. And that means a lot to me.” “I can tell she loves teaching because she’s always smiling and she’s simply kind.” “Ms. Casey believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. She showed me that I can do hard things.” “Ms. Casey’s room is a safe place where we can be ourselves.” “Ms. Casey taught me that effort is the important part and that if I keep trying, I can get better.” “She brings mega-good energy. I look forward to her class every day.” “Ms. Casey makes the time to listen to me, no matter what’s going on.” “I have learned how to be more confident because of her.” “I never liked school and I wasn’t good at anything until I took Foods class with Ms. Casey. Now I’m thinking about a career in culinary!” “She makes all of us feel like we are her favorites and that can’t be true, but it sure feels good.” “Ms. Casey pushed me to do things I didn’t think I was ready for and I found out that I can!” “She motivates me by her teaching and by the kind of person that she is all of the time.” “She has this way of listening, really listening, to our thoughts and questions.”
